Amateur 3-D Photography

Welcome to dddview. All of the images here are 3-D pairs displayed as left-right-left triplets.

Click on one of the topics below, then click on a thumbnail sample to display the corresponding triplet. It takes a bit of practice to view stereo pictures using either the parallel or cross-eyed method. I hope you'll think it's worth the effort. New topics will be added soon!

Parallel: The left-right pair (the leftmost two of the three) can be viewed in parallel. The left image is seen with the left eye, and the right image is seen with the right eye.

Usable image size is limited in parallel. You may want to modify the screen-area settings on your monitor if you have trouble viewing images in parallel. An inexpensive 3D print viewer (pair of lenses) can help you see images in parallel, especially wider ones.

Cross-eyed: The right-left pair (the rightmost two of the three) can be viewed cross-eyed. The left image is seen with the right eye, and the right image is seen with the left eye.

Cross-eyed images can be made considerably larger than those intended for parallel viewing. Viewers will not work with cross-eyed images.

Print Viewers: You can easily view stereo pairs that are up to 5 inches wide with a "Plastic Stereo Card Viewer (Lorgnette)" available for $3.00 from Berezin Stereo Products.   They work on pairs up to 6 inches wide for me, so I like them.
